Why a separate tool for Reels?
Reels disappear from your feed quickly, and Instagram gives you a Save button that only bookmarks them inside the app. If your account is gone, or the creator deletes the post, the bookmark goes with it. Downloading the file means the clip stays yours, whether it is a recipe you want to follow in the kitchen, a workout you keep coming back to, or your own Reel that you never kept a copy of.
This page is tuned for exactly that job. It accepts any Reel link from the app or the website, pulls the highest-quality MP4 that Instagram serves, and gives you a preview before you save anything. There is no watermark, no cropping, and the audio is untouched. Need a regular video post or a carousel instead? The Instagram video downloader handles those.
How to download an Instagram Reel
-
Copy the Reel link
Open the Reel, tap the paper-plane Share icon, then Copy link. On instagram.com, click the three dots above the Reel and choose Copy link, or just copy the browser address.
-
Paste it in the box above
Tap the field, paste, and press Download. Links with extra bits like
?igsh=…are fine. Those are only tracking tags and get ignored. -
Preview, then save
A small player appears so you can check it is the right clip. Hit the download button underneath and the MP4 is saved. On iPhone, open it from Safari’s downloads and choose Save Video to move it to Photos.
Good to know before you save a Reel
- Quality follows the upload. Most Reels come down at 720p or 1080p. If the creator posted a low-resolution clip, that is what you get. Nothing is upscaled or re-encoded.
- Vertical stays vertical. The file keeps its 9:16 frame, so it looks right when you re-watch it on a phone or add it to a story.
- Sound included. Trending audio, voice-overs, and original sound all stay in the file.
- Shared Reels work too. A Reel that shows up under
/p/on someone’s profile grid downloads exactly the same way. - Private and age-restricted Reels don’t. Instagram only shows those to logged-in accounts, and this tool never logs in. You will get a clear message instead of a broken file.
- Nothing is stored here. The video streams from Instagram to your device. We keep no copies.
Download responsibly
Reels belong to the people who make them. Saving your own Reels, or ones a friend has asked you to keep, is exactly what this tool is for. Re-posting someone else’s Reel as your own, or using it commercially, needs their permission, and Instagram can remove accounts that do it without asking. If you are not sure, a quick message to the creator usually sorts it out. Our terms spell this out in more detail, and the Facebook Reels downloader follows the same rules.
About Reel quality and file size
Instagram stores one finished MP4 for each Reel, with the audio already mixed in. That is the file you get here. For most Reels uploaded from a phone it is 720 × 1280 pixels; creators who upload from a desktop or a camera often get 1080 × 1920. The download button shows the real resolution of the file, read from the file itself, so what it says is what you get.
You may have seen other sites list six or eight resolutions for the same Reel. Those extra sizes are either the silent video-only streams Instagram uses for adaptive playback, or copies re-encoded on that site’s server. Neither is the original. We show every complete file that exists, and for a Reel that is one.
File sizes are modest: a 30-second Reel at 720p is usually 3 to 8 MB, and a 90-second one at 1080p rarely passes 30 MB. That is small enough to save over mobile data without thinking about it.
When a Reel won’t download
- “No video was found.” The link points at a photo post, a profile, or a Reel that has been deleted. Open the link in a browser: if you cannot see it there while logged out, the tool cannot see it either.
- “Private” or “age-restricted”. Instagram is holding the video behind a login. Nothing on our side can change that.
- The page just spins. Very rare, but if it happens for more than 30 seconds, reload and paste again. The second request is answered from cache if the first one succeeded server-side.
- The file plays without sound. That should never happen with a file from this site. If it does, please send the link through the contact page so it can be checked.
Instagram Reels download questions
Does the Reel come with the music?
Yes. You get the same MP4 that plays on Instagram, so the audio track is included, whether that is music, a voice-over, or original sound.
Is there a watermark on the downloaded Reel?
No. Instagram itself does not stamp a watermark on the video file, and we do not add one either. The file is exactly what the creator uploaded.
Can I save Reels to my iPhone camera roll?
Yes. Download the Reel in Safari, open the downloaded file, tap the share icon, and choose Save Video. It will appear in Photos like any other clip.
What about Reels from a private account?
Those cannot be downloaded. Instagram only shows private Reels to approved followers, and this tool never logs in to anyone’s account.
Why does a Reel say it is age-restricted?
Some Reels are flagged by Instagram as sensitive or age-restricted. Instagram only serves those to logged-in adults, so there is no way for a logged-out tool to fetch them.
Is there a limit on how many Reels I can download?
There is no daily cap for normal use. We only slow things down if one connection fires off a very large number of requests in a minute, which protects the service for everyone else.
