MidSaver is a free online tool that turns an Instagram link into a downloadable MP4. It works with video posts, Reels, and the videos inside multi-item carousel posts. Nothing is installed on your device and you never log in. The site reads the public post the same way your browser does and hands you the original video file with sound.

Because the whole thing runs on this page, it behaves the same on an iPhone, an Android phone, or a laptop. There are no watermarks added, no size limits beyond what Instagram serves, and no queue to wait in.

How to Download Instagram Videos

1. Copy the video link

   Open the video in the Instagram app or on instagram.com. Tap the three dots (or the paper-plane share icon) and choose Copy link.

2. Paste it above

   Come back to this page and paste the link into the box that says Paste Instagram video URL here. Links that start with instagram.com/p/, instagram.com/reel/, or instagram.com/tv/ all work.

3. Press Download

   A preview appears with a download button for the MP4. On a computer the file goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone, your browser will ask where to save it or drop it into Files.

Download Instagram Reels

Reels are short vertical videos, and they are the most common thing people want to keep. Reel links look like instagram.com/reel/AbCdEf123/. Paste one exactly as Instagram copies it and the downloader will return the full-resolution vertical MP4, usually 1080 × 1920, with the original audio track.

If a Reel has been shared to someone’s profile grid, the /p/ link works too, since both point at the same video. Reels from private accounts cannot be fetched because they are only visible to approved followers.

Which Instagram links work

Any link that points at a single public post with a video in it. In practice that means these formats:

• instagram.com/p/… for a video post on a profile grid, including carousel posts that mix photos and videos
• instagram.com/reel/… and instagram.com/reels/… for Reels
• instagram.com/tv/… for older IGTV uploads that are still live
• instagram.com/username/reel/…, the longer form the app sometimes copies
• Links with tracking added on the end, such as ?igsh= or ?utm_source=. Those are stripped automatically.

Profile pages, hashtag pages, Explore, Stories and Highlights are not single posts, so they will not work. Stories in particular are only available for 24 hours and are served through a logged-in session, which this tool does not use.

If a download doesn’t work

Most failures come down to one of four things. Check them in this order:

1. The account is private. Instagram only shows private posts to approved followers. There is no workaround short of logging in, which the site never does.
2. The post is a photo. A photo post has no video file to fetch. The message will say no video was found.
3. The video is age-restricted or flagged. Instagram gates some content behind an age check. You will see that reason spelled out in the error instead of a generic failure.
4. The link is incomplete. If you copied only part of the address, paste it again straight from the Share menu. The downloader looks for the post code after /p/ or /reel/, and that part has to be intact.

If the video was public a minute ago and now fails, Instagram may be slowing down requests from our server for a short while. Wait a moment and try again. Repeated links are served from a short-lived cache, so a second attempt is usually instant.

What to do with the file

The saved MP4 is a normal video file. It opens in any player, imports into CapCut, InShot, Premiere or iMovie for editing, and uploads to another platform without conversion. Instagram videos are typically encoded at 30 frames per second in H.264 with AAC audio, which is the most widely supported combination there is.

Two practical notes. First, the file keeps the exact frame Instagram served, so a Reel arrives as a 9:16 vertical clip and a landscape post stays landscape. Second, captions, likes and comments are not part of the video and are not included; if you need the caption text, copy it from the post itself.
